Stop doubting and start believing!
At the start of the year, many of us decided to set our goals for 2020.
Some of our goals were fitness related or some of us want to learn a new skill etc,
But how many of us made religious goals.
For example, one of my goals this year is to read my Bible more and to get closer to god.
I think that one of the goals some of us should have this year is to stop doubting and start believing.
We are and willl go through many hard times in our lifes and it is so important that in these tough season we don’t doubt GOD.
In the Bible in John, Jesus says to Thomas and the rest of his disciples that blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed.
John 20:24-29, ❝Now Thomas, one of the twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the lord!” But he said to them, “ Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my fingers where the nails were, and put my hand onto his side I will not believe. A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked Jesus came and stood among them and said, “ Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “ Put your fingers here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe. Thomas said to him, “ My lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”❞
I know this is a lot to read and stuff but let me summarize it for you.
A few chapters before this one, Jesus had just been crucified on the cross and risen from the dead.
JESUS appeared to the disciple one day but Thomas was not with them at that time.
The disciples told Thomas that they had seen the Lord but Thomas did not believe. He said that, ❛Unless I see the nails marks in this hands…. I will not believe❜.
A week later JESUS appeared to his disciples again but this time Thomas was with them. Then Thomas saw the lord, and he saw the nail marks in his hand and put his hands on his side. Then he believed.
Many of us( whether we admit it or not) are like Thomas with our faith.
Thomas would only believe if he saw Jesus himself.
And some of us when we are going through a certain season in our lives, will only chose to believe in Jesus and have faith in him and his word when we see a him do a miracle.
Or we will only praise GOD when things are going right even though the Bible says that we should give thanks in all circumstances. In the good and the bad.
But JESUS says, ❛Blesses are those who have not see and still believe.❜
How many of us live by faith and not by sight ( 2 Corinthians 5:7)
We need to stop doubting and start believing. Start believing in GOD and what his word says instead of listening to what the world says.
Start believing that GOD is going to get you through this season even though you can’t feel GOD working in your life or you don’t see the miracle.
Start believing that GOD has amazing plans for our lives!
We need to stop doubting GOD. GOD knows every step we are going to take in our lifes. Every mistakes, every victory.
He created the universe. He created you, he loves you
Let’s give some GOD credit. Let’s stop doubting and start believing.
